President's Day Books for Speech Language Development

President’s Day is just around the corner and I always like to incorporate holidays into speech-language therapy.  It is important to teach kids about American history starting at a young age.  Over the years, I have found several books that teach children about President’s Day and also allows for a perfect time to work on speech and language skills.  While reading these books I introduce new vocabulary and work on wh-questions (‘what’, ‘who’, ‘where’, ‘when’, ‘why’).  Below is a list of my favorite books about President’s Day!

    This non-fiction book is a great resource to learn all about the origin of President’s Day.

  5. Presidents' Day by Anne Rockwell

    Grade Level: Preschool to 1st grade

    Mrs. Madoff’s class puts on a play about President’s Day and then votes for class president.

    This book is filled with trivia, fun facts, and information on the historical events of each presidency.
